Message to St. Michael's Dunnville Families

Dear St. Michael’s Families,

Today, we needed to close our second school because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We regret the disruption that the outbreak declaration and school closure has caused our St. Michael’s families, students and staff.

Tomorrow, you will see movement to remote online learning, and we remain confident that our committed staff will continue to deliver excellent learning opportunities to your children.

Please know that we remain committed to continue to be tireless in our efforts to make our schools as safe as possible including ensuring that all enhanced safety measures are met. For your school, this includes a deep cleaning to ensure the highest level of safety and cleanliness when staff and students return.

The next steps for your school include:

  • We have dispatched our Facilities Services team to the school to complete the intensive deep cleaning and disinfecting procedure as per our protocols.
  • Remote online learning will be provided to all students while the school is closed. The school will provide details to families on synchronous and asynchronous learning soon.
  • Wellness supports and resources will continue to be provided to all students for the duration of the school closure period.
  • We will continue to work with public health in terms of identifying positive cases and other matters related to student and staff safety not only at St. Michael’s, but at all schools.
  • We continue our commitment to all families to communicate matters pertaining to the pandemic, as quickly as possible.

More information on asymptomatic testing for staff and students will be coming very soon to add another layer of safety for our students, staff and community.

We feel blessed that you continue to understand and support the BHNCDSB as we continue our COVID-19 journey together.

Thank you and God bless,

Rick Petrella, Chair of the Board
